Thomas Huw Evans was born in Ashton Under Lyne, Greater Manchester in 1995. For a lot of his life, he has constantly been on the move, living in Barrie in Ontario, and Llandudno, North Wales before moving down to Portsmouth to do his BA Hons Photography Degree at the University of Portsmouth. It is here at the University, that he found an interest in fine art and conceptual art work, exploring such topics as technology and it’s integration into the art scene. During his time at the university, he developed his passion for research and investigating into a wide variation of subjects.
A lot of his practice focuses on the evolution or utilisation of technology within a post modern contextualisation, observing societal changes and political characteristics. Much of his work involves research which explores contemporary topics and matters, and then visualising or exploring visually using found imagery. His particular interest with his works allows him to curate his own collections to serve a conceptual underpinning as in the future, he hopes to continue this passion of curating as a potential career.
His photographic series, California Dreaming, is part of the University of Portsmouth’s collection.
